Who we are

We aspire to be the global leader in solar powering mass-market mobile electronic devices for power challenged and environmentally aware users.

Intivation was founded in 2003 as True Solar Autonomy, after inventor Anne Osinga found a new way to boost output voltages – the step-up converter was born. Seeing the immediate potential for application in solar powered electronics, he founded the company together with DOEN participaties, Arnoud Litjens and Frans Walter Biegstraaten. At a later stage various private investors took a share in the venture.

At first Intivation focused on infrastructural applications and consumer products such as garden lights. Five years of R&D have led to various improved versions of the technology, making the conversion of solar light into electricity every faster and more efficient. Several worldwide patents have been granted or are pending.
Based on many years of sales, it can be stated with comfort that this technology is now proven.

In 2008 the company realigned itself towards mobile consumer electronics, most notably solar powered handsets and chargers. The funds to execute this revised strategy were secured during the summer of 2008 when Janivo, acting as lead investor, and StartGreen bought a majority stake in Intivation. Paul Naastepad, a seasoned telecoms executive, was brought in as CEO, while planning started for Frans Biegstraaten to move to Hong Kong to set up Intivation Asian Pacific.

Early 2009 the company changes its name to Intivation. This marks the course for the company as a developer of high-tech solar solutions, starting at the Mobile World Congress with the launch of two low-cost solar powered handsets and an iPhone charger in partnership with very reputable companies.

Intivation is based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
